There are four conditions to Double Loop Learning in organizations. The Organization should: 1.) Scan and anticipate environmental change; 2.) Have an open culture that values diversity, is free to challenge, embrace uncertainty, expect experimentation and risk taking; 3.) Encourage an emergent organization; 4.) Design an organization in terms of structure and practices that facilitate learning. These conditions for double loop learning are clearly demonstrated by Nucor Steel.
The first condition for double loop learning is for the organization to scan and anticipate environmental change.
