Everyone one of us has seen it happen, a child becomes restless or disappears into the racks of clothes, perhaps out of boredom. The next thing I know a parent is grabbing the child and hitting them angrily! Maybe, it is little Johnny or Suzie with a black eye, broken arm or stitches that came from a "fall". My wheels begin to turn as I wonder is my perception truth or fiction? Statistics show that 2 out of 5 children will be abused during their life. A Guardian ad Litem is a trained volunteer who is appointed by District Court to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children. My volunteer work as a Guardian ad Litem has benefited me in numerous ways. I learned to recognize forms of child abuse, to appreciate my own life and I received a great deal of valuable training.
