I believe that footballers as a whole are being treated extremely unfairly by the media. The vast generalisations that we are seeing and hearing across the media are tarnishing the names of not just the footballers, supposedly involved in these incidents but all footballers in general. The media have pounced upon these allegations, with the truth of most yet to be known and thrown everything at them with the emphasis on this ‘pack mentality’. ... It could be described as an image that the media is promoting. ... But to the discerning reader this is just an image that the media have constructed to at the end of the day to get peoples attention and sell papers.
The media are promoting a very bad image for footballers of all codes.
