When Christianity is planted in a culture

In the book, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, a new religion, Christianity, has landed (planted) on the Ibo people and plays an interesting role in the Ibo culture. Christianity can be interestingly portrayed as a "plant". Because of the total new idea, like the leaves and flower of a plant, it is growing and blossoming among the Ibo people. The old tradition, serve as a ground (stand) and soil of the people, where some soil accepts this new "seed" and some just rejects it. A new idea could not last if there is no support for it; just like the roots of a plant, it serves as a way to expand and extend so new leaves (followers) can be grown.
Throughout the book, there are bits and bits of passage by the narrator which gives away hint that Christianity is growing among the Ibo people. The passages are very straight forward and to the point. For examples, the facts are given when "The missionaries had come to Umofia...," (133) and "The arrival of the missionaries," (134)...
