IKEA stands for Ingvar Kampard Elmtaryd Agunnaryd. Ingvar Kampard is the founder of IKEA while Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd is the farm and village where he grew up. IKEA designs and sell its own furniture. The IKEA business is idea is to offer a wide range of home and office furniture with good quality, unique designs and functions at a low price.
The entire IKEA concept is owned by Inter IKEA Systems BV, which is established in the Netherlands.
The IKEA group has 76,000 co-workers and operations in 43 countries. There are a total of 186 IKEA stores in 31 countries. The IKEA group itself owns 165 stores in 22 countries. The other 21 stores are owned and run by franchisees outside IKEA Group in 14 countries.
