Certain restrictions were placed on Australian women in earlier years. It is only in the recent past where some of these restrictions that were placed on the women have been removed. From 1945 until the 1980s, changes to the restrictions have taken place. Some of the restrictions that were placed on women included work, equal pay and equal opportunities for women. Through this time the women's movement helped to change these restrictions and now they are removed.
One of these restrictions placed on women was the right to work. Traditionally, women weren't expected to work, it was the male's role. The female's role was to stay at home and be the housewife, wife and mother. Her duties included cooking, cleaning and washing while her husband spent the day in the workforce.
