Cleverly, the designers of this assessment did not make the rating scale extend to five, thus forcing me off of the fence. I would have rated myself with all threes had that middle ground been available. It is difficult for me to "take sides" with any of these systems of ethics. Each one has a place and a time in which it would be most valid.
Deontological ethics have a wonderful sort of chivalry about them. Duty and honor are ideals that tend to inspire me. I believe reacting in a preordained manner is commendable in some circumstances. It will inspire loyalty and trust. But sometimes, circumstances can be extenuating. I love stories that use the conflict of Deontological ethics, stories like Camelot, where Lancelot should have been killed for his betrayal, yet in the end, the King could not do it...
