As Quincy Jones began to expand further into television and film, he wrote a numerous amount of scores. Starting in 1961 with the Boy in the Tree he continued many years to 1967 where he did the music for in the Heat of the Night. This particular film received academy awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Film Editing and Sound. The music in this film was chosen by Quincy Jones and this is one of his most memorable pieces of work. Towards the end of his film credits is the famous film, The Color Purple. This film received 11 academy awards and Jones not only created lyrics for some of the hit tracks, but he also produced it. His musical and production capabilities were astounding. Endless Golden Globe, Academy Award and Grammy Award nominations were given for a numerous amount of the films he worked on.
