Irony :"The Story of an Hour"
Irony, is when the use of words to express something different from and often opposite from there literal meaning. In the short story "The story of an Hour," the author, Kate Chopin uses different types of Irony throughout the story to help bring a different effect to the outcome of the story. In this case, the use of verbal irony is present in this story. Verbal irony, is the contrast between what is stated, and what is actually meant. Situational Irony occurs when the actual result of an action or situation is different from the expected result. The Story of an Hour is a short story with a lot of Irony, which helped the story to be more interesting and have adds a interesting twist to the story.
