Rock music: an ever-changing style, no rock band is quite the same as the next. It's almost as diverse as classical music, with a list of sub genres with bizarre names. As we look down the list we come across hardcore metal (fast, screaming rock, best served loud), emo (emotional rock), hardcore emo (add the last two together) and pop rock (more melodic, happy rock with pop elements). And the list doesn't end there.
Recently rock has driven in a new direction, leaving behind its state of uncertainty. Rock music has become a trend among musicians, and in fashion too. Even pop bands are now trying to sound and look like rock bands, leaving the few remaining boy bands behind to get laughed at.
'Give us an example!' I hear you ask. Well, if there is one rock band that will do anything for success, no matter how odd they look or sound, it has to be these four lads from Lowestoft, The Darkness...
