Spanish Civil War Tierra y Libertad an Analysis

In my opinion,Tierra y libertad was a wonderful movie because it captured the spirit of the militia during the Spanish Civil War. Even though people of color were not present in this movie, true to the historical facts, youth from all parts of Europe and The United States were.
I believe the movie presented well, the dissention between and within the fighting factions; the lack of support - illustrated by showing only antiquated arms were available, the hunger, and women's roles. Women at the begining of the war were fighting beside the men in the trenches but as the war neared its end, they were only allowed to be nurses, ambulance drivers or cooks.
It was interesting that although not everyone spoke Spanish, there was an understanding and communication between participants. I noted that the man who represented the United States did not speak Spanish, but understood what was said to him. I also though that it was curious, when they had their town meeting, everyone viewed the North American as a person of authority, evet hough he had no clear understanding of the lives of the townspeople.
I noted that there really were many differences between the various groups that were fighting on the same side and it seemed as though they could not come to any standard agreements, which did indeed lead to their eventual defeat. This was deomonstrated by the two main characters, Davey and Koogan. Koogan wanted to kill civilians, but Davey did not and the result was that the civilians killed Koogan...
