There are more cases of people testing HIV positive these days. More then ever. All of the people that have been infected are not just average people, recently more and more cases of athletes are coming forward and announcing there infection with HIV, (Human Immunodeficiency Disease). It is theoretically possible to transmit the HIV virus through an exchange of blood in contact sports. But its not likely that it would happen, someone being infected during a sporting event has never been recorded. Now the real question is Should athletes that are HIV infected be allowed to participate in competitive sports with other athletes? Should there HIV infection be kept a secret with the other athletes or do they have a right to know?
Many people have different opinions on what to do. For example when Majic Johnson from the LA Lakers was infected with HIV, he informed it to the public, which caused some controversy with some NBA players. Some of the players refused to play with Majic Johnson because people were scared of the virus because there was not much information on the virus, and naturally people are scared of what they don't know...
