Management and Ethics 4
Ethical questions have ranges from practical, narrowly defined issues, like a company’s commitment to be honest with its customers, to broader social and philosophical questions, such as a company’s responsibility to preserve the environment and protect employee’s rights. Upper management have to balance the idea against the practical-the need to produce a reasonable profit for the company’s shareholders with honesty in business practices, safety in the workplace, and larger environmental and social issues.
Organizational policies and procedures relating to ethics can be expected to differ from one company to another in order to meet industry-specific needs. The airline that I worked for approached to ethics differently due to the diversity in corporate cultures.
