The ideas of liberalism came from the Enlightenment period. Liberal people wanted some kind of government equality where the subjects had a say in the government. The liberals had wanted to develop the country in many ways. Liberals were a group of people that desired to improve the Europe with their ideas and views of a good government. The goals of the liberals were had a slightly democratic view on the government. The ironic thing about the liberals was that the liberals had not ever wanted to have a democratic nation. They birthed their ideas from the Enlightenment thinkers like Adam Smith. The liberals consisted of academic, members of profession, and people involved in the business industry. The liberals wanted a nation that consisted of freedom the press, religious toleration, and the end of mercantilism.
