Morality and Abortion.
I checked on Webster‘s dictionary, the Webster’s dictionary said, "morality is the quality of being in accord with the principles or standards of right conduct. ... Put it together: Morality, morals, ethics have to do with what we as people ought to do –with what we as people should do. ... " Ive had some interesting discussions with students on this particular topic of morality in our English Composition class. ... There is an innate sense of morality invested even in our fallen humanity. ... Gilligan in his essay “Concepts of self and Morality”{Gilligan 169] Dont worry, Im not going to go through all the different ways for doing it as shown in the book because the essay is to long. ... I believe that the same goes to and can be linked with making moral decision as it relates to the issue of abortion. ... The point I want to drive home about the issue of abortion is this: let me suggest to you that we have an issue here of a young woman who is pregnant out-of-wedlock, and she is deciding whether or not she should abort the unborn child. ... In spite of the arguments and different positions people may have centering around the question of abortion . ... I totally believe that there is such thing as morality, but we cannot let other people suffer to death because we are saying the manner in which the help is wrought is not morally a good act. ... Say for instance, doctors have determined that a pregnant woman will give birth to a child who will come to this earth without both two eyes and feet, and the woman decides to go for abortion simply because she does not want to see this child suffering for the rest of his or her life, Do you want to convince me that the woman would be doing the wrong thing if she ends up aborting the fetus?
