In William Shakespeare’s, The Tempest, Prospero’s books play a big role. If it weren’t for his books there would have never been a tempest. The books are what gave him his power. ...
Prospero’s power is based on studying his books in which provide him with the necessary knowledge to rule over the island and its inhabitants, to bring up Miranda and to defeat his enemies. By means of his books, he creates his own little world on the island as a somewhat three-dimensional realization of the illustrations, reports and ideas contained in their pages. Prospero’s knowledge is broaden by reading the books but, on the other hand, narrowed by the fact that he knows nothing outside his books.
