I am convinced that community living is destined to be the housing of the future. Increased property values and enjoyment are experienced by knowledgeable homeowners and within the reach of all community association homeowners. Getting involved in your local homeowner association meeting is a good way to get involved in your community, where you are encouraged to be a part of discussions and become involved with planning issues within your neighborhood. Even though homeowner association meetings are notorious for their casual approach to neighborhood quandary, association meetings give you the opportunity to address and voice your own public opinion. The homeowners' association in my community conducts regular monthly Board Meetings every third Wednesday of each month starting at 7:00 pm. Since there has been a parking problem by the area I am located, I decided to join the association meeting this month and be able to analyze the audience setting, how subject matters and discussion are being handled, and how the board members strengths and weaknesses showed when they communicated. The community I reside in is filled with approximately 250 residences and normally only a dozen attend the association meetings. Being apart of the meetings where I can address or disagree with any issues and/or questions about my CC&R’s, makes me feel that I contributing to my community.
