I believe that the legalization of marijuana in Canada would benefit Canadian citizens, but decriminalization is and ill-planned out idea. ... Also it punishes Canadians using cannabis for medical purposes whose needs are not being met by health Canada’s failing program and as a result of our program failing Canadian compassion clubs have been distributing medical marijuana to over 2000 people with illnesses ranging from HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, and epilepsy to muscular dystrophy, arthritis, chronic pain, bi-polar disorder, rheumatic illnesses, anxiety, opiate withdrawal, insomnia, and alcoholism. ... It also does not address Canadians ignorance on the subjects nor does it address the fact that yes, just like alcohol some Canadians do have problems with marijuana abuse because cannabis is not “harmless” in fact nothing is, therefore harmlessness is defiantly not a prerequisite for being legal.
