A labor problem aroused when a worker or union reaction is intended to overturn a management action, such as dismissing workers, cut wage, disciplinary action, new work arrangement designed. ... In view of all these outcomes, firms need to develop variety of substantive strategies and policies to promote climates associated with a reluctance to join unions, an avoidance of industrial conflicts, good industrial relation practices, plus a belief among the workers that the company is good place to work. ... The more fringe benefits are provided, the higher possibility for employees to refuse to become the member of trade union. ... Some companies believe that subcontracting (outsourcing) in countering union, since it threatens job security and leads to pressure for concessions, particularly if the new source is a lower-wage nonunion operation. ... Employers association provides advisory and consultancy services to its members, including the matters relate to law, recruitment, education and training, performance and quality management, health and safety, union recognition, collective bargaining, dismissal, and so on. And when its members are unable to resolve disputes occurred among the workers, employer’s associations will assist them by negotiating with recognized union.
Overall, all strategies and policies discussed earlier enable the firms to attain improved workplace environment where disputes and conflict to be minimized, which lead harmonious relations between and among the employers and employees. The implementation of these strategies and policies produce high degree of satisfaction among the employees. Increase in productivity and profitability of the companies would be the optimum outcomes of the implementation of industrial relation strategies and practices in the workplace.
While the positive outcomes could easily be guessed, management is also interested in the studies of the unfavorable impacts of the implementation of such strategies and policies in its industrial relation practices.
