Personal aircraft - Learning to fly may be easier than you think. Today there are more than 700 000 active pilots in the U.S. Of these, more than 450 000 are general aviation pilots. The goal of the student pilot is to be certified. To fly in the U.S. as an FAA certified pilot, you must pass two practical exams and one written exam. As well there are three requirements that must be met. First you must be 16 to fly solo and 17 to get and aircraft or rotorcraft pilot certificate.
