September 19, 2001 Nutrition Internet Assignment #1 In the 1970’s two of the greatest buildings of all time were built. These buildings were to surpass any other in size, technology, and appearance. These buildings are the Twin Towers. When the builders decided to create this masterpiece they frequently asked the question if they could; never once did they stop and ask the question if they should. When the World Trade Center was built they used asbestos to fireproof the walls of the building. Asbestos is a harmful toxin that can cause lung cancer and many other health related problems. Gareth Cook and Tatsha Robertson explain the problems that some of the rescuers and nearby civilians could develop from Tuesday’s tragedy in their article “Asbestos dust is new threat at ground zero.” The Boston Globe produced this article on the fourteenth of September only four days after the two monumental buildings came crashing down.
