Tennessee v. Garner 471 US 1 (1985)

The ruling was “the officer’s actions were authorized by a Tennessee statute which allowed police to use all necessary means to effect an arrest where a suspect fled or forcibly resisted after being notified of the intent of an arrest, and that this statute was constitutional.”(Tennessee v.
