Summary of findings: Family Case Study
The analysis of my family information from my viewpoint provided some interesting findings. ... The family relationships’ issues were compared in a way that showed some enlightening results. From a standpoint of contemporary issues, I found that the philosophy of my parents, not my sibling relationships, has had the greatest impact on my life as an adult. Without detailing all the responses from the study, the following summarizes my family: both parents living, married 52 years – father, active, age-77; mother, sedentary, age-75; older brother, age-50; I am second-born, age-48; younger sister, age-45; youngest sister, age-44.
Although the responses requested in the “Family Case Study Work Sheet” did not provide direct information regarding my development, I was able to see how traits of my parents facilitated my own development. ... She brought some child-rearing skills to our family that were taught to her in the late 1940s and early 1950s. ...
Parental traits that I see impacting family relationships and my life as an adult include my mother’s managerial qualities and volatile nature. ... She can take on any project and complete it, although, her disorganized style often created stress in the family. ... We are much more embracing of the differences in our family members as in all people. ... But something that was not addressed in the study is that Mom and Dad did not get along well either. ... Perhaps analysis of this issue is fodder for further study at a later time.
