The overwhelming majority of us came to United States as refugees fleeing the civil war in our Country. Hundreds of thousands of Somalis have fled the country since the outbreak of the civil war in 1990. After dealing with the trauma of being forced to leave their own country, we had to adjust to a different language, culture and a whole new way of doing things. As a result, we incur a great deal of systemic barriers in the following areas: immigration, education, employment, culture and the economy system.
