I Want a Wife. ... Who Doesn’t?
In a 1971 article "I Want a Wife," Judy Brady explained the traditional expectation of the role of a wife. Though it was a short piece of writing, Brady covered a lot of what a wife is expected to do, how she is expected to react, and how she is to deal with her husband. Commenting on the comfort the wife’s role give, Brady ended up declaring a stunning fact, she said: “. ... I, too, would like to have a wife. ... The writer painted a picture of the role of a wife, which portrayed her as person who cares plenty, but is not taken care of. ... For example, if the husband works all day and has enough income to feed his family, the wife may stay at home and take care of the house while her husband is outside. ... It would be against this concept though if the husband says I need a wife at home to cook, clean the house, wash the dishes, do the laundry and take care of the children.
