Mother Courage a play written by Bertolt Brecht is a book about a woman and her children who are living in the midst of the Thirty Years’ War. ... Anna who is known as Mother Courage is the nickname given to this woman because she shows strength and ingenuity through all difficult moments. ... Mother Courages’ business strives because of the war. ... The irony behind this story is that Mother Courage survives solely on the profits she makes from the war, yet she looses her children because of the war. The biggest mistake in this story is that Mother Courage believes that living of the war would help her become wealthy and provide for her children but in reality what happens is that in the end of the war she remains in her poverty and stays lonely with nobody to look after her. In the end she continues to push her wagon as a symbol the shows that people must go on and somehow we can find courage.
