Over the summer I had received the opportunity to view many films; however, I wish to base this portion of writing dedicated to the 1995 movie “Se7en”. “Se7en” is a dark, grisly, horrifying and intelligent thriller that hit my senses with its extremely powerful message.
“Se7en” follows the case of two detectives; one being a week from retirement “Detective William Somerset” (Actor: Morgan Freeman) and the other being an impulsive, hot-headed detective awaiting action in the city, “Detective David Mills” (Actor: Brad Pitt). The film initially starts as the two detectives examine the murder of an obese man who eventually was killed by eating to his own death. ... Rather than using lingering gore shots, the audience receives impressive visuals and dialogue in order to create an extremely depressing atmosphere to the film. ...
As the film concludes, the serial killer surprisingly turns himself in to the two detectives and then decides to sign a full confession under certain circumstances without trial. ... With Detective Mills ruining his life even further due to the death of his family; making it, what I believe, one of the worst character based decisions in film. ... ” (John Doe: Se7en Movie)
“Se7en’s” message is so well put that it seems you can relate to the actions of the victims of each sin as we witness in our daily lives and television screens (especially).
