‘Lamb’ is a novel written by Bernard MacLaverty. The novel deals with symbolism in a big way and with detailed reference to the text I’m going to explain why this novel and its characters have a great depth to them. MacLaverty’s first use of symbolism comes forward when he links religion to the novel. He creates this through the situation when Michael decides to kill Owen when he realises that there is no way out for him except death this brings in one of the most famous stories from the Bible where God sacrifices his only sun.
