Archeologists play an important role in society by helping us understand the past by doing a process called excavation. Archaeology is a study of the lives of early people by looking at different evidence that archaeologists find by both physical remains and artifacts. The role of an archaeologist is to dig in places to find artifacts and physical remains of people from the early ages and to go from those items to understanding about how people the people of the early ages live their lives. Without archaeologists we would not be able to learn about the past and would eventually history would keep on repeating itself and we would make the same mistakes as the early age people, that’s why no artifacts and physical remains are futile to archaeologists. The term “litter of the past” has a lot of meaning to it and it is important to us. We may think today our trash is useless to us but in the future people may find our items such as even clothing (what we wear), used light bulbs (our technology), chip bags (what we eat), etc.
