This film is a mix of Jacob’s Ladder, starring Tim Rollins, with a touch of déjà vu. The main character, Dr. Ty Adams, played by Michael Beach, is an overly knowledgeable psychiatrist who loves a challenge, so he takes on a job in a mental hospital that is full of extremely eccentric patients. A documentary about the effects of psychiatry on mental health is being filmed on Dr. Adams as he interacts with his patients. The patients diagnoses are severe, and just what the doctor feels he needs to fulfill his tastes. He is given one month to heal the schizophrenics, and he chooses one patient, Cheryl, who is considered the worst case in the history of the hospital. It seems that he is the best thing that ever happened to the hospital, until one of the patients played by Eriq La Salle, introduces himself as Satan. After they are formally introduced, the tables start to turn, and Dr. Adams winds up seeming pretty mental himself. As the movie goes on, the audience finds out that things aren’t always as they seem. Crazy As Hell is a film full of suspense, question, reality, illusion and a twisted plot.
