The Failure Of The Provisional Government.
There are many things which added to the failure of the Provisional Government in Russia 1917. The four factors that will be written below are ones which I believe are the most important or influential in the failure of the Provisional Government. They are: the continuation of Russia’s participation in World War I, the Kournilov affair, Lenin and the poorness of the Provisional Government’s leaders in comparison to the Bolshevik leaders. Hopefully through these four points and a detailed conclusion I will be able to get across the reasons that in my belief were the cause of the failure of the Provisional Government in Russia 1917. ... Riots occurred on July 16th and 17th against the Provisional Government. The government brought in troops loyal to it and they ended the riots.
The Kournilov Affair:
In August of 1917 the Kornilov affair continued to sully the reputation of the provisional government. He wanted the government to deal much more harshly with the communists. He basically felt that the Provisional Government was too soft and that it should go. ... After the fall of the Tsar, the defence minister stated that he would continue to work with the provisional government with all allegiance. ... Thought no coup attempt ever actually happened, this affair became one of many causes to the eventual downfall of the Provisional government and the rise of the Petrograd Soviet. The Kornilov affair was used by the Petrograd Soviet (which was excellent at manipulating people through propaganda) to make the provisional government look "dishonest" and weak Kornilov gathered troops together and marched on Petrograd. ... Lenins importance to Russias history cannot be overstated; in November 1917, Lenin established the first communist government when he overthrew the Provisional Government. Russia had the first communist government in the world. ... In 1914, he moved to Switzerland still planning how to bring down the Russian government.
