“ WARREN PRYOR ” In this poem the author portrays two different point of views. The parent’s point of view is different from the son’s point of view. This poem is referring of poor farmer’s life and struggle farmers had to make to send their son to school where he could get an education to better himself. For instance “ slaving to free him from the stony field”, the key phrase illustrate that his parents have obviously worked hard to give their son the opportunity to better himself and by sacrificing. An individual’s childhood growth environment, and the relationship he or she shares with their parents shape an adult’s personality. Today, parents have difficulty maintaining a smooth relationship with their teenage children. This develops resentment between the child and the parents. I believe this issue should be handled delicately so that there is an understanding between the parents and child. In the western culture, the generation gap between the parents and child is enormous.
