The International Olympic Committee selected Vancouver as the host city of the XX1 Winter games at it’s 115th session in Prague, Czech Republic on July 2, 2003. Athletes and spectators from around the world will gather in Vancouver and in the alpine resort of Whistler in 2010 to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic winter games. The Olympic winter games will take place on February 12- 28, 2010, the paralympic winter games will take place on March 12- 21, 2010.
Host cities had to meet specific IOC (international Olympic committee) standards and regulations. Eight cities applied to host the games: Andorra la Vella in Andorra, Bern in Switzerland, Harbin in China, Jaca in Spain, PyeongChang in Korea, Salzburg in Austria, Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Vancouver in Canada. ...
