Over-crowded prisons all over North America are causing a drain on prison funding and a strain on the justice system. This problem will not be resolved as long as the justice department continues to hand out life sentences to people who commit murders. While nobody should have the power to choose whether a human being lives or dies, our government needs to modify our laws so would-be murderers have a reason not to kill. Convicted murderers should be put to death. If convicted murderers were immediately sentenced to death rather than being provided food and shelter for twenty five years or more, the government would save millions of dollars. Some of this money could go towards things like educating children about drugs, making the right decisions and choosing the right friends.
