Music education is one of the most frustrating, yet rewarding careers. Frustrating in the fact that there are many people who frown at music education and do not take its benefits seriously. However, music education is rewarding to us, because we help inspire many students and help them to set new goals, experience a new art and mainly because music cannot be taught, it’s experienced. Teaching music to elementary school students early on is the key to its success. By listening to music and explaining basic theory to these youngsters, they will have a better understanding and appreciation of music, to which you can build upon.
When I was a junior in high school I did a five-page report on the importance of music in children’s lives. Based upon the research I did four years ago, there have been many studies conducted that link music to a better understanding of math and reading.
