was an early chilly November morning about twenty miles north of Yankton, South Dakota. I was sitting in my tree stand waiting for first light, so this year deer season would open, and I could begin hunting. I had my new pair of advantage wetlands camouflage bibs and coat on, with a very warm pair of Rocky boots. Earlier that morning at about 5 a.m., I got out of my truck, and started heading towards my stand. I had sprayed some human scent eliminator all over me from head to toe to get my scent covered up. Then I grabbed my backpack, which had all my scents, shells, rattle bag, and grunt call in it and started to hike to my stand. I started heading towards my stand; as I was getting closer I grabbed my scents out and got them ready to put out around my stand. I grabbed Lucky Bucks #69 doe urine scent and also one of my scent sticks. Then I put some Lucky Bucks on a scent stick, then I tied the scent stick to the back of my boot so it would leave a trail, covering up any scent of my trail. I put some more Lucky Bucks on another scent stick, then I put it on a tree to get the scent in the air.
