This media piece is an extract from an Asda magazine, its main theme, I think, is family and the promotion of Asdas food. It shows a traditional English middle class family having Sunday roast together, the purpose of picturing a family like this, is to show what type of customer Asda caters for and to promote a great, happy lifestyle. This all inturn helps sell Asda’s food because it gives an impression to the customer that if you buy Asda’s food you will all be as happy as the family shown in the picture.
The organisation of the piece is very informal, the font is bold and the language is easy to understand which again suggests the type of customer Asda caters for (working – middle class. ... At the start of the first paragraph there is a rhetorical question and through out the piece there is a lot of repetition of “Asda fresh. ... It’s a cheep magazine and is only sold at Asda, so Asda customers only read it.
