In reading Ibsens “A Dolls House today”, I find it hard to imagine how daring it seemed at the time when Ibsen wrote the play in 1879. ...
While reading this play, I saw that Ibsen uses certain dramatic and literary techniques and styles, such as irony, juxtaposition and parallelism to further reveal interesting aspects of Nora’s personality. ... Although foil characters in general reveal similar information, I think that the similarities in “A Dolls House” are more than just general. ... I think that Ibsen uses his irony techniques with this character; here we have a physician that treats patients daily but whom himself dying of an untreated illness.
