Title IX just had its thirtieth anniversary. ... “Title IX of the
Educational Amendments of 1972 is the landmark legislation that bans sex discrimination
in schools, whether it be in academics or athletics.” Sex discrimination was rampant
before the creation of Title IX, and even though it hasn’t solved all problems, it has made
success easier to achieve for women in education and sports.
With all of Title IX’s achievements, there are some who believe that it hasn’t
accomplished enough. ... ” When considering that there are actually thirty schools that haven’t complied
with Title IX, it is important to remember that these are a small minority of the nation’s
colleges.
