As the 21st century approaches, the environmental and social challenges facing the world are immense. Six billion of us now compete for a limited amount of resources. This awareness has encouraged many of the world's leading corporations to become more environmentally responsible. While corporate America is recognizing its social and environmental responsibilities, it is crucial for Wharton, where future leaders are being trained, to incorporate social and environmental topics into course work and projects. While I do feel Wharton has a cutting edge curriculum, I hope students can work to encourage career paths that incorporate some type of social or environmental cause. Students should learn how to judge business decisions for their financial value as well as their ethical validity.
