Spirit-raising blues from Joyce, company By Stephen Pedersen / Arts Reporter REVIEW CORNER Eileen Joyce: No More Blue Tears Independent. EJ2003 Halifax County blues singer Eileen Joyce is both a fighter and a survivor. Her fate as an entertainer, apart from a sometimes rough personal road that lends authenticity to her blues, is to have had to hold her own against a floodtide of Celtic music. The blues could never be said to be unpopular, it is true. But they can be taken for granted. They have been around a long, long time. About as long as broken hearts have. No More Blue Tears is Joyce's second CD. It gets off to a slow start with three survivor-like tunes written by herself and Bill Harvey, who plays piano on the album. The lyrics are conventional brush-offs in the mode of, "OK you left me, but I don't plan to spend any time missing you." I'm Shakin Off The Blues (the first song), but there'll be No More Blue Tears (the second) Without You (the third).
