In this play, Macbeth was a brave soldier in the king’s army. ... After the battles won by Macbeth’s army, he encounters three witches, which tell their prophecies to him. This then plants a seed of evil into Macbeth’s mind. ... The three witches had intended to meet Macbeth and put their evil plot into action. Shakespeare clearly shows that the three witches are associated with evil and have intentions to target Macbeth. ...
I think the witches planted the seed into Macbeth’s mind of becoming king of Scotland. The witches were also influencing him because they say “Thrice to thine, thrice to mine, and the charms wound up”, so they might have put a spell on Macbeth. The witches’ words made Macbeth become obsessed about the idea of becoming king of Scotland, so the seed of evil started to grow.
In scene 5, Lady Macbeth receives the letter sent to her from her husband Macbeth. ... It shows that Macbeth cannot wait to tell her because he had sent a letter, which arrives before Macbeth dose.
Macbeth also tells here what they had told him “Hail, king that shalt be” this means he will be king and he was positive of this because he also says “Shalt be thou art promised”. ...
Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth; “never shall sun that morrow see”, this means that she is plotting to kill Duncan in the night and it mean he won’t see the light of day again. Lady Macbeth also tells Macbeth to “look like th’innocent flower but be the serpent under’t”, again she tells him to hide his foulness and look fair.
