When you read a story and there is many coincidences among the story and an example of the real life, is very possible that the story be an allegory. The allegory is defined like a series of metaphors that you join create deep one more message. In “The smaller wrist,” written by Rosary Ferré, we read on a situation that has many similar aspects to the situation of Puerto Rico during the century XX. To begin, the aunt bathed in the river when she was a girl. Her bath represented Puerto Rico in the year 1897; the country almost was an autonomous government.
