This letter is regarding to the trial and punishment of Hester Prynne. As a fellow Puritan, I believe that this young women’s punishment was completely unacceptable. You can go ahead and call me a rebel Puritan but I don’t care. This behavior, though the propriety, should never be repeated again. We the puritans, succeeded from the Church of England because we sought to purify, or reform and establish a middle course between Roman Catholicism and the ideas of the Protestant reformers. From there we have become the most dominant religions. We need to set an example! Is it not true that we follow the bible that we as Puritans learn from it? “The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery; and making her stand before them, they said to him, ‘Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
