There are a few basic steps that need to be followed during the troubleshooting process. The first thing you need to do is identify the symptoms or problems that your system is encountering. At this stage it is important to gather as many facts as possible as to what the problem is or what type of symptoms it is exhibiting. Once you have gathered all the facts you should be able to determine what some of the possible causes might be. It is best to start with the most obvious causes for the problem before spending a lot of time on the more complex solutions. The best way to begin is to try to isolate the causes by testing the various devices on the network for possible problems. It is important to only test one thing at a time to avoid losing track of where you are in the process. After making adjustments and observing the results you can then determine if this action has corrected the problem, caused an additional problem, or whether you need to continue the troubleshooting process by looking for alternative causes.
