The Innocent Victim I went to the party, Mom and remembered what you said You Told me not to drink SO I drank a coke instead I really felt proud inside, Mom The way you said I would I didn't drink a drop When the others said I should I know I did the right thing, Mom I know you're always right Now the party is finally ending And people drive into the night As I got into my car, Mom I knew I'd get home fine Because the way you raised me So responsible and kind I started to drive away, Mom And as I pulled into the street Another car didnt see me and slammed me from my seat As I lay here on the pavement, Mom I hear the policeman say "The other guy is drunk!" And I'm the one to pay I'm lying here and dying, Mom I wish you'd get her soon I hope and pray it's all a dream As I gaze up at the moon There's a pool of blood around me, Mom And most of it is mine, I hear the paramedics say I'll be dead in a short time I just wanted to tell you, Mom I swear I didn't drink It was the others, and not me Who simply didn't think Why do people drink, Mom It cant ruin an entire life I'm feeling sharp pains now and my visions not quite right The person who hit me's walking, Mom and I dont think that is fair Since I'm the one drowning in blood while that jerk takes in fresh air Tell my brother not to cry, Mom and ask daddy to be be brave Please dont let my little sister sit and grieve before my grave I'll miss my talks with grampa and those loving hugs from gram but what really hurts the most is that i wont see u again why didnt someone say, Mom "Hey you shouldnt drink and drive" if only they had said those words I know i'd be alive my breath is getting shorter, Mom and im getting every cold guess ill never get the chance to see myself get grey and old I have a final question, Mom before i say goodbye.
