The article on the Nacirema tribe of Northern America is an interesting one. ... The Nacirema are a society that are obsessed/terrified of the magical properties that they believe are present within the mouth, and they also believe that the debilitation of the body’s physical condition may only be rectified through magical practices. A large part of the Nacirema’s cultural practices revolve around the shrines that they have built to fend off disease and debilitation, the link between the mouth (which produces sound) and the body becomes more apparent. The Nacirema undergo lots of rituals pertaining to the mouth, as they regard as having a “supernatural influence upon all relationships.
