I will never forget the first time I got pulled over. I was 19 on my way home from class. It was the first day of spring; the sun was shining and not a cloud was in the sky. I was driving with my window down, blaring my music. That’s when I was those horrible red and blue lights flashing in my mirror. As I pulled over, I saw him pull right behind me. Being my first time, I had no idea what to do. But that wasn’t the most of my worries. The most of my worries was how in the hell am I going to pay for this? I am a college student: aka I’m poor. Then a male voice said to me, “License and registration please.” As I handed it to him, he said, “ You were going pretty fast back there. What’s the hurry?” I was quiet. Do I say my brakes don’t work, do I agree or do I create a huge lie in hope that he will believe it? I decided to lie and tell him that I just caught my boyfriend sleeping with another girl and now I have nothing to live for. And what did he say? “I’m sorry. I’ll be right back with your ticket.” So, once you see those flashing lights in your mirror, you’re screwed, right? Wrong. Want to be like the lucky ones who know how to avoid getting speeding tickets? Then listen up! This foolproof plan has four parts: don’t speed, don’t get caught, know how to talk your way out of it or run for it.
