... I was the only girl of seven other boys, and my father was convinced I was male myself. Besides the obvious body part that I was missing, I became to believe that maybe I actaully was supposed to be born into the opposite sex. My mother died during my birth, and the only thing I have to remind me of her is an old dress that my father insisted we keep, and her locket that had a very young picture of her and my grandmother, (of whome I never knew either).
