Nature vs. Nurture
A topic that has sparked discussions between philosophers and scientist for decades is the debate of nature vs. nurture. In the past at different times, both points of view have been isolated as the more dominant factor, however it is clear to us today that neither is less important than the other, nor can they stand solely on their own, therefore concluding that both nature and nurture play an equally important role in shaping one’s personality. Speaking from nurture’s side of the argument, it is believed that our minds start out as a blank slate, and it is how we are brought up, as well as the environment in which we dwell that determines our personality.
